Time goes by, life moves on, nothing stays the same,
But then I get a memory that brings a fleeting pain.
A memory of you my friend; a memory of past,
When family was everything; I thought that it would last.
I often want to tell you things that you might want to know,
A funny joke, the things I’ve done, some gossip you would love.
But then I just remember, that you’re not there to hear,
Another little heart break, another little tear.
I wonder what you would have made of how we are today,
I bet you would have worked out how ‘lockdown’ could go your way....
They say ‘you can’t move forward if you’re always looking back’,
But memories, they feed your soul, they keep your life on track.
I hope you know I love you, and that I always will.
You have a place within my heart that no one else could fill.
White feathers sometimes come to me, a little sign of faith.
That forever you will be around, forever in this place.
I hope wherever that you are you’re rightfully adored,
My friend, I’ll always miss you; Ray William Ford.
